How about a Bookcase with an Optional Top Compartment? Shown here (on the left) is an oak, contemporary style 3-shelf bookcase with two hidden compartments and (on the right) is our standard style 2-shelf pine bookcase with one hidden compartment and one optional easy-access top compartment. In both cases the top compartment is well concealed and provides a handy place to keep important items neatly out of sight, however, in the oak bookcase, the top compartment locks down and is opened by triggering a hidden release. If you prefer, the top can be made so that it slides open to one side or the other once it is released. Made of solid pine, our standard bookcase has a few knots for a casual appearance, molding around the top, and a durable finish while the contemporary style has no knots, sharper lines and a finer furniture finish. The stain color on the oak bookcase is Golden Brown; the stain color on the pine bookcase is Honey. In all our bookcases, the hidden compartments can vary in depth from 1-1/2" to 3" according to your need. All can be fitted with a custom-sized fire safe pouch for document and valuables protection. 
Contemporary Bookcases The bookcase on the left is from our Contemporary Collection. The case and shelves are made of clear pine (only the wainscotting has knots), so it has a more formal appearance than the standard model and it features a finer finish. It has a hidden compartment, of course. The color shown is Walnut. Our Contemporary Collection bookcases may also be requested in taller, thinner versions that fit easily on walls as narrow as 18 inches.
